Home Body
Home, is where you are most fully yourself— the place you belong.
I believe our home’s embody how we live and see ourselves. A reflection of what’s important to us.
Take a moment to reflect about your home. Does your space hold what’s important to you? What is given priority in your home?
As long as I can remember people refer to me ( and I consider myself) a home body. I love to be at home.
Our three grown children love to be at home too. They have all created very unique spaces in rented apartments that embody their genuine personalities— themes of free-spirited, love of cooking and organization to name a few, even 475 square feet feels like stepping into a serene cocoon of comfort. As I watch them create their own space I feel clear about how they see themselves.
Try this exercise below to gain insight on where you place value in your home and if needed how to create a positive change.
What is a favorite moment of the day and where are you in these moments?
For me, it’s the day’s transitions. Being AT HOME for the beginning and the winding down parts of the day, and the rituals these special times bring.
Let’s imagine together—
the day is beginning, a beautiful sunny crisp early morning, sipping warm aromatic coffee while sitting in your garden surrounded by fragrant jasmine and garden roses.
Next bring an awareness to the end of the day, the sun is headed for the horizon, the world is quieting down, you are with a person you love or in a quiet self-reflection enjoying a luxurious tea or glass of wine recalling the stories of the day.
Take a moment and create these visualizations (or make one of your own), and feel them deeply, as if they’ve already happened.
With the exercise above, think about what you can do to create space in your home that perhaps allow you to feel balanced with the sacredness of the day.
