Are You A Coffee Drinker?

Morning coffee time at my house

I started to drink coffee at seventeen years old. As a high school senior, I took a zero-hour college course at Kansas State University. Waking up early, my dad and I shared a cup of coffee before we headed to campus, where he taught and I attended my first college class.

Coffee’s morning ritual has been in my life for 45 years! I endeavor to write about subjects I am passionate about and feel may also spread positive stuff. There is so much information about what we should eat and drink, and I believe in “everything in moderation.” I favor a fantastic cup of java in my morning routine. That said, my family knows me as a true coffee snob. I’ll turn my nose up at a gas station brew but become purely delighted (my small pleasures) with a freshly made, high-quality, organic, mold-free bean created into a steaming cup of pure heaven.

I finally found a bean I feel passionate enough to talk about. These organic, mold-free beans are mild yet full-bodied enough to hit the mark for great taste, Veneto La Mujer Coffee. I emailed the company in South America to ask if their beans were mold-free, and within a few hours, an email describing their detailed process landed in my inbox. I have no affiliation with this product; I'm just impressed with the company and want to spread the word. In Texas it’s available at the grocery store HEB, La Mujer Organic.

I also love to support small businesses; my super-talented ceramist friend Kimmy, who owns Whiskey and Clay, in Santa Fe, NM and makes these beautiful hand-thrown mugs ( and more) as “a forced mindfulness in everyday” therapy.
