Writing is a Portal To Self Discovery
Mom said, "I don’t know if I would be any good at this sort of thing, but I am willing to try." Elizabeth responded, "I think this practice can be lots of fun, and who knows, you may recall feelings from different stages in your life and how those memories define the woman you are today." My mom is turning eighty-eight years old. We made a pact to start writing together, which may later become a memoir.
What if you join my mom and me? Would you like to set an intention to dedicate 15 minutes, a small portion of your day (or a few days of the week) to a writing practice? Personal anecdotes written down that shaped who you are today. Insights that provide an exciting perspective of experience.
Is your curiosity piqued? Ready for a little bit of magic to show up?
This pen-to-paper self-discovery practice can help uncover deep truths and unlock your creativity. What if authentic and untapped material is patiently waiting to come forth and guide you?
Over time, these writings can become sincere and exciting material that can be used in many ways. A little bit of magic shows up. Perhaps your heart-felt words become the framework for a memoir, fiction or non-fiction book, magazine submissions, hand-written notes— or just plain creativity unleashed unexpectedly.
Let's create something beautiful together. I'm excited to hear from you about the best way to collaborate and create.
In the meantime, use this excerpt from Language of the Soul, writing exercise to bring you clarity and direction this summer.
Take a few minutes to create a quiet space, and use this precious time to turn inward and reflect on where you put your energies. With pen and paper, write down the top three places you put your energy. Can you look back and feel good about where you invest your time? Do you know if your actions align with your goals? If not, what would you change? Now write down one place you want to invest your energy.
