As a child, I wore a birthstone ring on my finger. The golden topaz stone made me aware of my connection to my self and to the Earth in a new way. Ever since, I’ve been consciously aware of the energy a gemstone can give us — if we are open to noticing its power.

The other day at our holiday party we had an unexpected guest. She arrived by Uber, walked into our space saying, "Oh my goodness, my palms are sweaty and I am so nervous to meet you."

Welcoming her in with big hugs, she felt more at ease and settled in. She told us, "I flew from Nashville to come to the holiday party. "

We waited a whole year. This holiday collection holds lots of intention. We decided to bring back our most favorite pieces. The ones we always wore and other's told us they did too. This collection is limited in quantity, so if you see something you like, please act on it as we are not creating anymore this year.

While we enjoyed the lazier quiet days of summer, we also worked hard on a new project— our website. Sarah, was the lead singer while Allie and I played back up. The three of us always get inspired and excited by design. We are proud of our fresh clear direction.

The Mark family, a family of six, lost everything from the devastating floods of Hurricane Harvey – including their home and family vehicle. Without a vehicle, they were left with no means of transportation to work or school.

The inspiration came from a simple sandalwood prayer mala, a graduation gift from my swami. I loved wearing this mala and my yoga students often asked where they could get one too. The idea formed to develop a piece of jewelry which would act as a talisman; to bring the wearer comfort and a reminder to connect to spirit throughout the day. The design was named Serenity Beads.

I use the word affirmation interchangeably with sankalpa; a vow, a commitment to myself and a request to guide my choices.

While I have always known this special seed (bead) holds sacredness— I didn’t know it is believed to provide good support for those who are constantly on the move and sleep in a variety of places. This natural bead is claimed to create a cocoon made of your own energy. The belief stems from holy men and women who were constantly moving, traditionally never supposed to rest their heads in the same place twice.

The Magical Joy of Giving. Our main intention for The Jewelry Project is creating abundance, so that we can use the resources to give back. In helping others, we feel we are helping ourselves too. 

If we look back in history, crystals and gemstones have held a revered place in our lives. They have been found in the tombs of ancient Egypt, adorning the breastplates of warriors, and sparkling in the crowns of sovereignty.

I also believe the word friendship can represent the idea of supporting those who need it most. So in celebration of and in thanksgiving for friendships of all types, my guru friend Elizabeth Irvine and I have collaborated on a special bracelet that we named the Mitra bracelet. Mitra means friendship in Sanskrit. I believe we are all here to help one another and Elizabeth and I wanted to create an object that symbolizes supportive, loving energy.

A common goal comes back to the simple message. Women want to feel beautiful. We share the belief of empowering women from the inside out. Riane has great style and understands how to help women feel beautiful. She also understands the intention and meaning behind The Jewelry Project. Women supporting women.

And that moment’s click brought me to you now. My editor liked the pitch and assigned me the article, so I had the good fortune to sit down with Elizabeth for coffee one morning. Little did I know it would turn into lunchtime as hours elapsed like minutes, and it would be the start of a special friendship. They say there are no accidents, and I’m a believer. She came into my life at the exact right moment with her calming voice and valuable perspective on everything from affirmations to meditation.
