August Writing Retreat
Whether you write down last night’s dream, what makes you happy, or your soul’s deepest longings… writing is healing, empowering and can bring much needed clarity— often covered up in day-to-day living.
For me, writing allows my soul to speak. And, with practice these writings can become something, like tiny pearls, that join together and bring insight to help guide myself and others.
On offer to anyone who wants to escape summer’s heat into the mountains of Northern New Mexico, with an urge to explore,
WRITING RETREAT
in Santa Fe
23 - 25 AUGUST 2023
Creative Self Expression
To learn how to write something with no expectation, no agenda, free-flow creative expression that brings forth genuine and honest thoughts. The first time I ever experienced a writing retreat I had zero experience. Set an intention to explore a new way to get in touch with a deeper part of you. What positive change do you want to create?
This retreat is a set period of time where you put aside all of life’s regular responsibilities and focus on self-care and discovery through writing.
Through activities such as sound bath healing, outdoor mountain experiences, guided meditation and journaling you will begin to relax and let go— in this place you can get in touch with the best part of you. You will uncover a deeper sense of self and learn how to discern what’s important to you, re-direct your energies and form a commitment to yourself. You will take home writing techniques and friends to last long after our time together.

The Magic of the Creative Process
The creative process requires that you engage with a practice that involves intention to learn and to be consistent. The key to creating magic is knowing that you already have it; you just need to learn how to use it.

NAVIGATING THE LONG FORM
Before beginning a novel, I’m standing at an ocean, anticipating a swim to an unimaginable shore. With some luck, there will be islands on which to rest along the way. Whether writing a memoire, fiction or nonfiction, this discussion will help you navigate a long deep journey, exploring multiple approaches to process: from flow-and-stutter beginnings, to needed distance and discipline, to the freedom of not knowing. You’ll learn about the ghost of old drafts, necessary dead-ends, the importance of faith and time, whether less or more are more, and why a mess is good for a manuscript.
