SOUL SPACE EQUINE RETREAT: A HORSE'S STATE OF MIND
A reflection from a Travassa Soul Space Equine Retreat, now Miraval Resort , five years ago.
This is how we do a day retreat
Allie leads an early morning devotional yoga class, then it’s off to the stables to begin our equine experience. The ladies and horses make introductions to each other. Stroking and brushing their horse they tune into each other’s energy. Next, one woman at a time (with her new 1,000 lb friend) enters the arena and closes the gate. Horse whisperer Jodie and I lead with encouraging words from our perch on the observation deck. We invite you to work with your horse from an energy perspective and to observe what your horse is reflecting back to you. Each of the fifteen ladies spend time in the arena and share below the equine messages they receive.
Words of wisdom come from our sessions:
be assertive not aggressive
feel confident in your leadership
we don’t always do it right, but discern what works and keep doing that
give her enough room to see your energy
be aware of your energy and where you are directing it
respect, trust and connection
don’t hold a grudge and never judge
allow time to process, patience is key.
All of these powerful words apply to our every day relationships, horse or human.
After lunch we continue to “process’ the wisdom of our powerful horse therapists. We use our words above and create an intention for positive change and plant them within a guided meditation. A day of communion with like-minded women and horses.
We engaged in tools of communication with a horse. Through grooming, creating a connection with the horse’s energies, and moving a horse around the corral— this experience provided a unique, fun and empowering way to uncover your journey to self. Time to journal horse reflections and learn how to create and apply an affirmation for positive change from the experience lasts long after the day is over.
AFFIRM: I am powerful in my unspoken communication.
