My new friend, Chicken Soup for the Soul author Maria Rodgers  asked me to answer a few questions about writing and invite some of my favorite authors to contribute too. Maria wrote this recently:

Writing, it has been said, is like giving birth. A man must have come up with that. I’ve been a mom for over 20 years, and an aspiring author for half that time, and I can tell you: Writing and publishing demand a different skill set than labor and delivery. Lam recently wrote this blog,

I made scones this morning instead of taking a shower and hunting down the right shoes. I fed my sourdough starter instead of driving 35 minutes to my office. I petted my dogs instead of looking for parking. Am I dressed? Nope. Later. And I’ve gotten just as much done, no, MORE, than if I’d gone in and sat down at my desk today. Though I started working at 6:30, I’m more relaxed. My posture is better. I got to say goodbye to my family without rushing. I have SMILED this morning. It’s possible I’ve even laughed. Don’t get me wrong, I love my office and the team who works there. I smile and laugh at work all the time. But it’s different. You know it is.
