Happy Birthday Sam, HEALTHY MOTHER HEALTHY CHILD

Today marks a special day. A quarter of a century ago, a little boy was born. He brought many gifts with him, however one in particular. Who could have guessed at the time, that his arrival held soulful knowledge for so many.

SOUL KNOWLEDGE

Our family turned over a new healthy leaf due to the birth of our son, Sam. Through this a life-changing healthy lifestyle has rippled out to the masses of people, leading to a healthier happier way of living.

My initial journey in discovering the body’s ability to self-heal began in London with a sick baby. While my family was living in England, our son Sam developed severe allergies that led me to search for a wider knowledge, a deeper understanding of the roots of the disease. The top medical experts had told me that Sam’s condition was unfixable, and that the only treatment was to try and ease the symptoms and keep him comfortable. As a nurse, I understood the language of conventional medicine; as a mother, I knew that answer was unacceptable.

THE BODY CAN HEAL ITSELF

Over the years, Sam and I learned about a more natural way of living—simple but powerful tools of food, yoga, relaxation, and a myriad of other way of allowing the body to self-heal. Through Sam’s recovery, I learned to walk a new gray line that accepts both conventional and complementary medicine as helpful and necessary. My son’s challenge became my portal that led me to a place of new possibilities and new way of caring for his little body, and my own. My first book, Healthy Mother Healthy Child is the reflection of this story.

Sam turns 25 years old today. He’s all grown up and whether he’s spending time in nature, hanging out with his family — he’s cooking up his own healthy lifestyle.


NOURISHING BODY & SOUL

Sam describes his cooking as a ‘meditation.’ He told Houston Family Magazine, “Everyone does things in their own way, and I feel meditation can refer to any process that leads you to an inner state of heightened relaxed awareness— there’s really no right or wrong way of doing it.” For Sam, cooking is simply a different technique that can be used as a tool to help you focus and quiet your mind.
