That is the number of unopened emails sitting in my inbox at this moment. Despite my best efforts to read, open, reply and delete emails daily, that’s about how many are in overwhelming rotation on any given day. I’m lucky if I open every message from my favorite people (as some of them will attest) and places. So although I’ve been a fan of Gilt for years, largely because of its impeccable customer service, I’m guilty of not clicking on some of their most enticing subject lines. But last June 15, I HAPPENED TO CLICK on a Gilt City Houston post about Elizabeth Irvine—a multi-talented jewelry designer who happened to live in my city. Not only do I love organic pieces made of rock and stone, but also I’m a writer forever in search of an inspiring subject. Elizabeth fit both bills. Perfectly. I immediately sent a note to one of my editors, pitching her for a story.
And that moment’s click brought me to you now. My editor liked the pitch and assigned me the article, so I had the good fortune to sit down with Elizabeth for coffee one morning. Little did I know it would turn into lunchtime as hours elapsed like minutes, and it would be the start of a special friendship. They say there are no accidents, and I’m a believer. She came into my life at the exact right moment with her calming voice and valuable perspective on everything from affirmations to meditation.
I’m so grateful that I have gotten to know Elizabeth and experience each of her beautiful creations: books, podcasts on meditation, yoga class and, of course, her jewelry. I proudly wear her bracelets and necklaces, which always make me feel empowered—and never fail to garner compliments. But The Jewelry Project is more than a collection of pretty pieces. Made by hand in Houston, each silky strand is unique with its own meaning and therapeutic benefit that may uplift and energize, empower and affirm, protect and shield, or bring joy and serenity. (And they are made for layering!) Whether you rock a single choker, write a “note to self” and wear it, or stack up a band of bracelets, Elizabeth’s stuff simply gives GOOD VIBES. May you feel a bit of this positivity while wearing one or two of her treasures—no matter how many emails you have in your inbox. Happy week!
P.S. Elizabeth Irvine has a GILT Promo starting today Monday July 11th in New York, Houston, and Dallas for the next ten days.
