If Home is Where the Heart Is, Where Does The Soul Live?

I am deeply passionate about creating sacred spaces. Re-envisioning space and how it defines how we live has always been a significant part of my journey with truewellbeing. We have remodeled more times than I can count, and each time I love to see the opportunity as a blank slate to begin again. Perhaps a metaphor for the never-ending path of self-discovery?

How to find the vibe and how to tap into it’s beauty?

In our current home, the land and the oak groves spoke to me. I sensed the potential of the house, even though the land had been neglected. It felt like a privilege to become the new steward and give the land the love and attention it deserved. After an eighteen-month remodel, our small ranch outside of Austin finally feels like home.

Deeply rooted, living in harmony with our home

The native flowers, grasses, rolling hills and oak groves captured me— but it was the one massive Live oak positioned in our home’s east morning sun, invited me to a connection to something that lived centuries before I came to this Earth. She enchanted me from the beginning and I was determined to bring her into our new space.

“It is going to be expensive. Do you really need to move a bathroom and lift the ceiling?”

Luckily, Ron agreed and we took the initiative to make room for this majestic 100 feet tall, 200-year-old oak to become part of our home. Her grounded trunk supports strong branches that create some 50 feet of cool shade in the summer’s heat. This capture above is where I sit with my morning journal. The ethereal light shining in through her leaves shifted the energy of our home in a big and beautiful way.

This iconic tree, a metaphor to keep my feet on the ground while simultaneously inspiring me to look within and connect to a higher force.
