A Moment’s Peace Workshop at Joy Yoga

Want to create some calm amidst holiday chaos? Why not indulge yourself in an afternoon of a gentle yoga, relaxation techniques and create the space for a meaningful peaceful holiday season.

In this workshop we will focus on gentle yoga asana with an emphasis on breathing, body awareness and relaxation. After preparing the body physically, the student is then instructed in the practice of mandala drawing. Mandalas create patterns the mind can understand, thus bringing order and harmony. Techniques of self-reflection and goal setting are then followed with a guided relaxation to “plant the seeds” of intention that conclude the session.

Finding a Quiet Still Space at Lake Austin Spa Resort

I was recently invited to speak for the Wise Woman program at Lake Austin Spa Resort. What a treat. The opportunity to present to a lovely group of women about one of my favorite subjects, “Find A Quiet Still Space” with the added bonus of some R&R at this beautiful peaceful resort. A fitting environment to complement my message–a restful place nestled in breath taking beauty of peace and calm.

Lake Austin Spa Resort’s wise woman program is only one of their diverse and educational programs offered. “The Gathering of Wise Women program began in 1993 in cooperation with the American Cancer Society. Originally, it was a weekend program designed to educate and encourage women to become proactive in their own health care after a member of the Resort’s staff was diagnosed with breast cancer. The program has expanded and evolved and now encompasses a wide array of topics in which our “wise women” guest speakers provide a continuing source of inspiration and information to our guests.”

Having someone else prepare my meals (that were healthy and delicious) for a couple of days in addition to being in the center of natural beauty in the heart of the Texas hill country was a much welcomed reprieve from my busy live in Houston.

Whether it was the warm and friendly women who participated in my presentation, the caring woman who pampered me with the fresh and tingly pomegranate scrub pedicure after my talk, or all of the women I observed chatting, laughing and just generally relaxing- Lake Austin Spa Resort is a place where I feel women can let go of everyday stress, settle in to a peaceful surrounding, and find a quiet still space that nourishes body and soul.
