A Moment’s Peace: A Mom’s Guide to Creating Calm Amidst Chaos Giveaway

In celebration of my latest book release, A Moment’s Peace: A Mom’s Guide to Creating Calm Amidst Chaos, Kirtsy is hosting a contest to remind all mother’s to take a moment out of their MAYhem to find some peace in their lives.

Research shows to change any habit, it requires 28 days to create a new way of being. During the month of May while the contest is live, I am committing to publishing daily inspirations on how to create calm amidst chaos. These suggestions and ideas are all ways that I incorporates peace and calm and joy even amidst the most chaotic days of my life.  I encourage you to come back daily or subscribe to my feed and create peace amidst your chaos.

In addition to my daily inspirations I want to offer one lucky reader a copy of A Moment’s Peace: A Mom’s Guide to Creating Calm Amidst Chaos.

When my mother was gravely ill with cancer, and I was busy teaching, being a wife and mom, helping my grieving father, and taking graduate classes, I could have used a moment of peace!

I could really use a moments peace. I am a stay-at-home mom to four kids ages 8, 5, 3 and 17 months. My husband is working 60 hour weeks in a city five hours away from home. He gets to come home two days each month. I am very busy these days.

I work the front desk at a hotel, and it can sometimes get pretty crazy. Those are the moments I need a bit of peace. In my “mommy life”, when my son decides that he wants to be awake after a 20 minute nap instead of a 90 minute nap, then proceeds to whine for the difference, my patience is definitely tested.

  9. Andi says:

I work at a credit union and I time when I could use a moment's peace is on payday Fridays and Saturdays. The branch I work at becomes so chaotic and it would be nice to have a moment to escape to a quiet place.

  10. Kristi says:

I have a 5 year old and a 5 month old, I've been unemployed for a year and as I was the main breadwinner in my family, things are tough. I was actually 3 months pregnant when I was laid off so that added to the stress along with the mountain of medical bills. Anyway, just seems like there's never enough energy in me or time in the day to be the wife I want to be, the mom I think I need to be, the person I hope to be.

  11. Elizabeth says:

I could really use some help finding peace! I am the mom to three awesome little boys ages 2,4, and 6. My sweet husband travels frequently for work. I live far from my family and closest friends, although I have made some strong friends here in our new town. I am so in need of some suggestions to help me feel more in control of my life!!

  12. Thanks for your comment. Try this tip for a moment's peace.

I bring my awareness to my breath and notice my inhalation and my
exhalation—and taking a few slow deep breaths in and releasing them back out
as I allow my rib cage to expand, my breath gently soothes and nurtures my
body’s posture.Try it now. How does it make you feel?

  13. Thanks for your comment. I feel your patience being tested is something
millions of mothers share with you!

When this happens, remember *to notice* that you are beginning to feel
irritated. As you practice this initial awareness, you can begin to make a
positive change in your response to his behavior. Perhaps every time you
begin to feel agitated– take a deep breath in and out and smile!

He may pick up your positive vibes– and if not, at least you are shifting
your feelings to a higher vibration.

    With best wishes,
    Elizabeth Irvine

  14. Thanks for your comment. Shift the gears from feeling pressured to perform
and step into a new world, one fresh with subtle but powerful awareness in
    the present moment.

Everyday life is chock-full of opportunity to live with mindfulness. Imagine
life filled with blissful moments—for me, that can be as simple as noticing
as the humidity lifts and I breathe in fresh, crisp air.

What I call “present moment” or mindfulness is really a simple
3,000-year-old Zen practice that is also referred to as mindfulness
meditation, and it is a valuable gift you can give yourself.

When things begin to feel chaotic- keep yourself firmly grounded in the
    present moment.

    Best wishes,
    Elizabeth Irvine
